Initially I started to try and put down my 2010 summery on paper! But after a few pages I was still writing about pulling my pig n jig across the ice to drop it into the perfect spot!!! That meant i had another 8 months to write about which means it would have been 2012 by the time i finished! So, I will try to break down the year 2010 as quickly as possible so you can get back to doing more important things in life! March means Mississippi walleye. Everything started great in mid-March with some successful trips and within two weeks the river got muddy and extremely high so lets move on! And we did move on to some late March early April LMB (large mouth bass) action with fish coming in up to 5lb. By mid April we started to get into some crappies. (one of my favorite fish to pursue) May brought a lot more pre-spawn LMB. From local lakes to the backwaters of the Wisconsin River. The crappies really fired up on Lake Wisconsin with half day trips producing as many as 80 to 100 fish days! (thanks Laverne, that will be a day to remember) With June came hot weather and hot action. If you wanted to bend a rod it was still happening. Thank God I am blessed with some great local lakes to fall back on considering the Mississippi was still angry and running at high levels! July, things tend to slow down, but still managed to put good numbers of fish in the boat. Good time to be kickin back on Lake Wisconsin soaking some medium suckers waiting for the next flathead cat to come by. Well, then all hell breaks loose! August, the dog days of summer! But the Mississippi had signs of becoming stable again. Had great fishing when currents dropped and floating weeds were not an issue. Fished a lot of main channel water and did very well with LMB SMB walleyes and pike. Local lakes still producing good numbers of fish. September, Mississippi bass were on fire! Whatever we were throwing was catchin fish and all species! Floating weeds were an issue, but you just had to find clear spots and you were on em'. October, now its prime time! Its just a matter of what you want to fish for because good chance its biting! And October did not dissapoint, had a great month on all species. Went on my annual trip to Genoa with 8 good friends for an extended weekend and hit it just right. Not many weeds and fishing was great to say the least! (thanks Wes, Jon, Derek, Mitch, Jason, Lucy, Olday and Jimmy) November, fishing stayed solid as it should this time of the year. Now if you want to catch a true trophy no matter what the species, now is the time to go. The bite can be tough at times for certain types of fish but they do have to eat meaning they are catchable so whether you choose me as a guide or someone else, get out there and do some extreme fishing!!! Thanks for reading my first report. please fell free to comment! Starting in March I will be doing weekly and sometimes daily reports as well as video footage of fishing trips! God bless and good luck on the water. CDW(Fish on Guide Service) |
